ESSENCE BAREFOOT KNIT YELLOW

Created through a collaboration between Grand Step Shoes and the Spanish, ethical barefoot shoe brand Sambas the Bambas, this new knitted barefoot shoe sets new standards. It is made entirely in Spain from environmentally friendly materials. The thin, flat, and flexible soles allow direct ground contact and allow the toes plenty of freedom of movement. The use of a knitted upper marks a step toward zero-waste production. Unlike conventional production, no fabric scraps are created, as the upper is knitted precisely to the shoe size. The result is a sock-like upper that adapts perfectly to the foot and enables flexible, lightweight walking with purely natural materials—hemp and Tencel.

To improve the fit, we use a small amount of elastane, which increases the shoe's flexibility and freedom of movement without compromising sustainability. An innovative and durable sewing process that bonds the textile upper to the rubber outsole makes the shoe last longer, and the upper and outsole components can be easily separated and recycled separately after use. This also reduces the use of adhesives, chemicals, and plastics often used in conventional manufacturing.
